FLSA Status: Non-exempt
This position is responsible for the surveillance of patrons in the City's swimming pool facility and ensuring their safety by preventing and responding to emergencies.
*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*
Essential Job Functions

- Performs surveillance of patrons in the swimming pool facility
- Recognizes emergencies and responds quickly and effectively to those emergencies
- Enforces all swimming pool facility policies, rules, and regulations
- Performs opening and closing duties including equipment set up, restroom cleaning, trash duties, and pool vacuuming
- Assists patrons in a friendly manner without compromising surveillance duties
- Inspects the swimming pool facility daily and reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Swimming Pool Manager
- Completes records and reports in a professional manner
- Participates in regular in-service training
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience

- 16 years of age or more
- Possession of current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (or equivalent)
- Possession of current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (or equivalent)
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Physical Requirements
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee will climb a ladder, negotiate steps and stairs, talk, and hear. The employee will occasionally lift, pull, push, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
The work is typically performed outdoors. The employee will be exposed to loud noise, hazardous pool chemicals, and extreme weather conditions.
