Job Description

Location: 5115 GS Building Maintenance
Pay Grade: A03
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Under general supervision, assists in the repair and maintenance of City buildings.

*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*

Essential Job Functions

  • Participates in all aspects of building repair and maintenance activities, including but not limited to: remodeling, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, HVAC, repair and maintenance of refrigeration units and appliances.
  • Sets up and tears down temporary electrical distribution for events, pond fountains and field lighting controls.
  • Participates in the setting up and taking down of cubicles.
  • Participates in welding work, including brazing, cutting, grinding, fabricating and soldering.
  • Moves and relocates assets throughout the organization, including office furniture, computers, file cabinets, boxes, etc.
  • Participates in a standby rotation.
  • Installs appliances.
  • Assists outside contractors as needed.
  • Maintains HVAC units, installing new filters, cleaning coils and condensers, performing minor maintenance.
  • Winterizes the bathhouses, de-winterizes the swimming pools.
  • Installs and repairs pond pumps.
  • Picks up recyclables from City buildings.
  • Works with vendors during special events to access to electricity on City property.
  • Attends daily safety meetings.
  • Respond to after-hours calls
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, with no related experience required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Physical Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert exceptionally strong physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, and crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 150 pounds). Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical.
