Job Description

Location: 1200 Information Technology
Pay Grade: A08
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance in support of the Communication Systems Engineer.

*This position performs duties deemed to be “safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies*

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists with the installation of the 800 MHz communications network infrastructure.
  • Maintains communications terminals including alignments, firmware, and software upgrades.
  • Works with vendor regarding radio repairs needed and maintains the repair database.
  • Installs and maintains fire station alerting systems.
  • Maintains and repairs fiber optic cabling.
  • Installs and maintain security, access control?systems and employee?badges?for all employees.
  • Maintains city facility burglar and fire monitoring systems.
  • Supports systems and communication network 24/7, 365 days; this is an on-call position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and a minimum of 1-year of general work experience. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class B CDL issued by the State of Oklahoma.

Physical Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in medium work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
