Responsibilities:

The Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical services within the hospital that has a patient population ranging in age from 18 years to geriatric experiencing medically complex conditions, general medical-surgical conditions, with rehabilitation and/or wound care needs.

The Pharmacist duties include:

  • Verification of medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness. Review of
  • medication profiles.
  • Assists in the resolution of drug therapy problems.
  • Participation in medical and multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Perceive and evaluate the medication information needs of patients and families, health care professionals, and other person.
  • Use a systematic approach to address medication information needs by effectively searching, retrieving, and evaluating the literature and appropriately communicating and applying the information to the patient care situation.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Compounds, packages, labels and dispenses medications.
  • Maintains proper inventory control and storage including the secure storage of
  • controlled substances and inventory records.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in
  • educational programs, current literature, in-services and workshops.
  • Participates in training pharmacists, technicians, students and residents.
  • Participates in education programs for pharmacy staff, attends meetings as
  • required and participates on committees as needed.
  • Consults with and advises healthcare providers regarding optimal and cost effective utilization of drugs. Where appropriate, documents clinical activities.
  • Responsible for adherence to the Department Compliance Plan for Controlled
  • substances.
  • Performs dispensing and compounding functions utilizing automated technology
  • Perform additional duties assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • • Ability to project a professional image.
  • • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • • Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.
  • • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • • Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.).
