JOB SUMMARY
In addition to the duties of a Millroom Operator and under the direction of the Millroom Supervisor, the Millroom Lead coordinates and monitors the activities of the millroom operators assigned to his or her shift. This position provides guidance and training to millroom staff and supports the Millroom Supervisor in day-to-day administration as needed. An individual may perform maintenance duties as needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Millroom Supervisor, the Millroom Lead:
  1. Performs the duties of a Millroom Operator;
  2. Works with the Production Department to create pre-forms for first articles;
  3. Maintains the mixing schedule in the absence of the Millroom Supervisor;
  4. Starts up and/or shuts down the millroom, as necessary;
  5. Navigates Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system to complete necessary scheduling and tracking tasks, including but not limited to part, job, and material traceability functions;
  6. Packs material for transfer.
  7. Develops and documents work instructions;
  8. Performs personnel support functions such as training, monitoring, performance appraisal, and performance issue management
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to understand and communicate details logically and accurately in English;
  • Must have or be able to immediately renew a Forklift Operators permit;
  • Basic mathematics knowledge with the ability to read and understand mixing charts, formulas, and compounding requirements;
  • At least 3 years of experience working with heavy machinery preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasionally: Reach above shoulder with both hands and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Frequently: repeatedly push/pull up to 65 lbs., walk, lift upward with both arms outstretched, count and calculate, communicate details
Constantly: stand, reach outward with both hands, handle/finger, wrist,t and elbow flexion, rotation, and articulation
Other: Nearpoint non-color vision, sense of touch, tolerance for temperature in a non-controlled environment
