Job Summary: The Director, Finance (South and Vinita) leads, organizes, and directs the financial operation functions for Saint Francis Hospital – South and Saint Francis Hospital – Vinita. This role assesses the current financial status, forecasts future financial performance, establishes objectives, and implements strategic initiatives to ensure financial success.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience. Experience in Workday or Epic, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced Microsoft 365 skills and/or other applicable software. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal skills with recognized leadership skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent ability to manage the details while balancing the outcomes. Proven ability to have command of financial operations and related accounting. Ability to be detailed–oriented, work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Established ability to think quickly and to analyze implications of changes in processes and operations within the health system.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Oversees the preparation of internal and external financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and departmental profit and loss statements. Reviews and manages all accounts and reconciliations for proper balance sheet presentation. Prepares the annual capital and operational budgets for the South and Vinita campuses, taking overall accountability of results and project completion. Directs various analyses and proformas, as needed, oversees the creation of supporting documentation and submissions to senior leadership. Provides leadership to month end close activities and oversees correct and timely preparation of journal entries, check requests, bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, internal and external financial and statistical reports. Reviews journal entries and allowances for questionable accounts to ensure accurate financial statements for the South and Vinita entities ensuring resolution of discrepancies while evaluating internal controls and adequacy of processes; with an understanding of net revenue calculations and reports on factors impacting variances in net revenue. Collaborates with departmental managers and directors to ensure the financial success of the entities.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
